Legacy Giving

Leave a gift to SOS Children’s Villages with your will
What will you leave behind? If you put a gift in your will to SOS Children’s Villages you can ensure we can continue to provide support and care for children, young people and families and in doing so make a lasting impact. By leaving us a gift in your will you can continue to transform the lives of future generations of at-risk children.
A gift in your will could:
Ensure the world’s most vulnerable children grow up in a supportive family environment
Provide children with the life-changing opportunity of an education
Create lasting change by strengthening communities impacted by poverty and disaster
Help ensure our work continues long into the future and gives hope for a lifetime
We understand that leaving a legacy is a special and personal decision. We will use your gift wisely and cost-effectively so that it has the greatest impact for children, families and communities.
If you would like to have conversation on leaving a legacy gift with us, we would love to hear from you.

Guiding content notes: Keep your website on legacy lean and informing. Include a “how to leave a gift in your will” only if you have a lawyer who crosschecked it. If you have lawyer on your board ask them for support. Before you start with legacy fundraising your National Director and Board needs to be informed – and approve and include in the strategy. Once everyone is on board, everybody in your fundraising team needs to know about the topic as well. One person needs to be assigned as main contact for prospects and the team needs to know who. Some team members will need to be involved as well. (eg the major donors person for talking to major donors, the retention manager, the online person, the telemarketers) Basically everyone who talks directly to donors. It would also be good if Village directors are made aware that you have started legacy giving. Legacy fundraising is about starting the conversation and keeping it up. (Stewardship) SEO (search engine optimization) – please read the > guiding document about website SEO to become aware that you need to take actions concerning search engine optimization as well for building a well-prepared fundraising website. |
